Ontario winters are tough on cars. Road salt, brine, slush, and constant temperature swings all work against your paint, wheels, and underbody. The best time to prepare is before the first snowfall.
Start with a full decontamination
Iron fallout and tar build up over the summer. Removing them with a chemical decon and clay treatment gives your protection something clean to bond to.
Add a layer of protection
A paint sealant or ceramic coating makes salt and grime much easier to rinse off. If your car is already coated, a maintenance wash and top-up before winter keeps it performing.
Don't forget the glass and wheels
- Glass coating: water and slush bead off the windshield, which helps visibility in bad weather.
- Wheel coating: brake dust and salt wash off instead of baking on.
- Undercarriage wash: clears salt from places you can't see.
Keep it up through the season
Rinse the car regularly during winter, especially after salty roads. In spring, a decon wash strips the leftover salt before it causes damage.
